Prom's grand march route released
McClain High School has released the route for the prom's grand march, which begins at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Click on this article to see a large picture of the route. 
Envirothon team competes in Scioto County
The Area 5 Envirothon that occurs every spring took place April 26 at Oyo Boy Scout Camp in Scioto County, and McClain was one of 59 teams to compete. The event was co-hosted by Scioto and Jackson SWCD's, with teams from Fairfield, Highland, Delaware, Adams, Franklin, Hocking, Ross, Vinton, Brown, Pike, Lawrence, Scioto and Gallia counties participating. 
McClain students participate in craft competition
Pat Catan's, a new craft store in Washington Court House, recently hosted a craft competition for local middle/high school teams.

Dave Daniels, Director of Ohio Agriculture, Leaves an Impact on McClain FFA
The McClain FFA Chapter welcomed Dave Daniels, Director of Agriculture for the state of Ohio, who presented the audience with an enlightening speech concerning the impact of FFA at the 2016 Banquet.  
Veronica Olaker named new MHS Student Council president
The annual political campaign for McClain Student Council president kicked off recently, and Veronica Olaker has won the top spot. Running partner Maria Onusko will take over the vice-president position.

FFA Livestock Judging Team Excels at Contests
The McClain FFA Livestock Judging teams surpassed all others competing in Spring CDE Contests.

Living to serve the community
The FFA motto states that FFA members are expected to "live to serve." During National FFA Week, the McClain FFA Chapter hosted its first clothing drive, and students brought in a total of 250 clothing items.

  1. Ohio University will be offering a summer Law & Trial Institute program. The program begins July 10 and is a 12-day immersive residential program that aims to increase understanding of the law and its possibilities among Ohio High school students from Southeast Ohio. Please see your guidance counselor for more information.

  2. Students will report to their homerooms today between 6th and 7th periods.

  3. Today is the last day to register without a late fee for the June ACT test. College bound juniors, who have not yet taken the ACT, should take the June 11 test.

  4. Any graduating senior, who is interested in a job at the YUSA Corporation in Washington Court House, should see Mr. Raike for more information.

  5. Tigerettes need to return their school issued uniform by the end of the day today to Mrs. Weaks.

  6. There will be a volleyball meeting Monday at 2:30 pm in the new gym. Information will be given about tryouts, summer workouts and summer leagues. Volleyball open gyms will be held the following dates/times: Monday: 2:30 pm-3:30 pm, Tuesday: 2:30 pm–3:30 pm and Thursday, May 12: 2:45 pm-3:30 pm.

  7. The Fellowship of Christian students will be meeting today during lunch in Mrs. Gossett’s room. Pizza will be available for $1.00 per slice. This will be seniors last meeting.

  8. The Spanish Club will hold its 3rd annual Scavenger Hunt and trip to the Mexican restaurant on Monday after school. Please sign up with Miss Poynter or Mrs. Hutchinson if you plan to attend.

  9. A 2016 yearbook may still be ordered by going online at jostensyearbooks.com or through Mrs. Gossett (Room 232/Old Vocational Building) before school, during lunch or after school. Price is $40.

  10. There will be a Cross Country meeting this morning in the auditorium during Channel One.

  11. The Art 2 paper mache sculptures will be on display in the library through the end of the day today. Please stop by and see them.

  12. AIR make-up testing will continue through today.

  13. The library will be closed for the school year beginning today.

  14. Juniors and seniors may sign-up for prom with Mrs. Pitzer before school, during lunch or after school through the end of the day today. If you are taking an out-of-town guest, they must complete a permission form. Middle school students are not permitted, and your guest may not be over the age of 21. Class dues must be paid in full in order to attend prom. The prom will be held on Saturday from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm. The Grand March will begin at 7:15 pm. All Night Party tickets are on sale, and the cost is $18/couple and $10/single. The All Night Party will be in the cafetorium after prom from 11:00 pm – 3:00 am. All Night Party t-shirts are available and will be free to all seniors. Juniors and guest who would like to order an All Night Party t-shirt may purchase one from Jett’s Pro Embroidery.

  1. The Junior Executive Committee members will be decorating for prom today. You will not be permitted to enter through the new gym lobby or new gym.

  2. Students, who are interested in taking the OGT this summer, need to see their guidance counselor as soon as possible.

  3. Senior Day Assembly audition cards may be picked up in the office. Auditions will be held on Tuesday in the auditorium at 3:00 pm.

  4. On Friday, May 13 MHS Day/Senior Send-Off; a Kona ice truck will be set-up next to the football field to sell shaved ice from 11:30 am – 2:00 pm. Prices are $3.00, $4.00 and $5.00. Fifty percent of the sales will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

  5. The Band Booster’s duck race will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 3:00 pm at Felson Park. Tickets are $5.00 per ticket and may be purchased through Gracie Ehlers at 981-3456.
