Snake Dance tradition continues

A tradition that has lasted nearly a century continues at McClain High School. The MHS Homecoming Snake Dance took place last Thursday evening, starting with students from various sports and the homecoming court riding on wagons. Students, family members, and other Tiger supporters held hands and “snaked” down the roads following the last wagon. When everyone returned back to the practice field, the evening came to a close with a bonfire and effigy burning. At the bonfire, coaches and players addressed the crowd, the band played while the Tigerettes danced, the cheerleaders cheered, and the players led multiple chants. The Snake Dance has been a tradition since at least the 1940s, according to McClain graduates.
