McClain History

Edward Lee McClain High School has a remarkable amount of artwork ranging from sculptures, murals and paintings to the sacred marble staircases. "The Gift" from Edward Lee McClain in the early 1900s became the pride of the city and the model for schools across the nation. He constructed something that would promise "the most good to the greatest number for the longest time."

We welcome visitors to see our magnificent high school building. Tours may be requested by contacting the building principal.
