We are excited to see our students return for the 2020-2021 school year! Due to the current pandemic, we have some safety guidelines to protect both students and staff. Please read below for some of the guidelines for the upcoming school year.
Students will be permitted to enter the building at 7:30 AM.
All students will enter from the rear of the building (including sixth graders)
Upon entry, students will have their temperatures taken.
A grab-and-go breakfast will be available once inside the building.
Students will go to their lockers and then report to their first period (homeroom) classes.
Backpacks are permitted this year! Students should utilize backpacks to reduce the amount of time spent going to lockers.
The tardy bell will ring at 7:40 am.
Students will eat breakfast during homeroom.
Students will pick up chromebooks to use for the school day.
Students will wear masks during class, if social distancing isn’t possible.
Students will have “mask breaks” during class transitions.
Students will have assigned seats (student selected).
The entire cafeteria will be utilized during middle school lunches.
We are still working on our plan for recess, but we will have something in place!
Students are encouraged to bring water. The water fountains are shut off.
At 2:25, students will return to their homeroom classes. Chromebooks will be returned, so they can charge overnight. Students will clean chromebooks at the end of each day. Students will use the same chromebook every day.
Students will clean their workstations at the end of each period.
For science and family consumer classes, we still plan to have labs. If working in groups and sharing items, students will wear gloves (provided).
A lot of our classrooms have tables, we are in the process of purchasing dividers to protect students.
The steps at the rear of the building will be used to travel to upper floors. The steps at the front of the building will be used to travel to lower floors.
Hand sanitizing stations will be available at each floor.
The district purchased masks and face shields. They will be available to students if they forget one.
6th Grade Tour
Unfortunately, we cannot host an open house this year. Please watch this video (click here) to learn more about how Greenfield Middle School operates. The only update is that sixth grade students will enter the middle school building, and not go to the cafeteria. The sixth grade team will help students become accustomed to Greenfield Middle School on the first day of school.
We know certain items will come up that are not addressed in this list. Please be flexible and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the middle school office.
