School attendance matters! Strategies that we implement to improve student attendance are utilized not just because we know good attendance positively impacts student achievement, but also because addressing excessive absences and habitual truancy IS THE LAW!
Avoid the spring slump! Below are some helpful tips for parents FROM parents:
1. Talk about the importance of school in your home.
2. Be organized. Get everything ready the night before.
3. Give yourself 15 minutes of quiet time before the kids wake up.
4. Implement structure - Run it like a military operation in the morning!
5. Don’t give kids a choice to stay home.
6. Come back to school after medical appointments.
7. Know how many days your child has missed.
Students who are close to being identified as chronically absent, defined by the Department of Education and Workforce as missing 10% or more of the school year, can avoid that designation by finishing out the school year with great attendance. Working hard to maintain good attendance at the end of the school year benefits students and our district. Avoid the spring slump!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL NEW GEVSD 2025-2026 KINDERGARTEN APPLICANTS:
Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year is open! We are excited to announce that the Greenfield Exempted Village School District has again partnered with FinalForms, which allows you to sign and complete all kindergarten enrollment forms for the 2025-2026 school year and upload ALL required documents to your student’s individual document folder.
Please remember that your child must turn five years old prior to August 1, 2025, to be eligible for kindergarten registration.
As part of the registration process, the Greenfield Exempted Village School District will hold in-person testing events at our three elementary locations. Your child’s participation at your school’s testing event is mandatory.
Testing Events:
Greenfield Elementary: Tuesday, April 22 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Due to many roadways having debris and some power outages in the area, the Greenfield Exempted Village School District will be on a two hour delay Thursday, April 3, 2025. This delay will allow time for daylight so that drivers can see any safety concerns. There will be no morning preschool, and breakfast will not be served today.

Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open!
We are excited to announce that kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open as of today, March 31st, 2025! Please remember, your child must turn five years old prior to August 1, 2025 in order to be eligible for kindergarten.
Please complete steps 1-3 prior to the registration/testing event.
Step 1: Complete FinalForms registration: Visit https://greenfield-oh.finalforms.com/. Set up a parent account and create a new student account for the 2025-2026 school year (click the blue square). Ensure all forms are completed and marked as “green.”
Step 2: Open Enrollment (only complete if applicable):
If your child resides outside of the Greenfield School District, you must complete the INTER-DISTRICT open enrollment application which can be found on the district website: www.greenfield.k12.oh.us/page/enrollment.
If you wish for your child to attend a different elementary school within the Greenfield School District, complete the INTRA-DISTRICT Open Enrollment Application which can be found on the district website: www.greenfield.k12.oh.us/page/enrollment.
Step 3: Upload required documents to FinalForms:
Birth certificate
Immunization record
Proof of residency (must be utility bill, mortgage statement, or lease agreement)
Driver’s license

Due to deteriorating road conditions and the benefits of having daylight for safer morning driving, we are going to go ahead and plan for a two hour delay on Friday, February 21, 2025. We do try, when possible, to notify families the evening before so arrangements can be made. Again, the Greenfield Exempted Village School District will be on a two hour delay, Friday, February 21. There will be no morning preschool, and breakfast will not be served.

Good afternoon. With two additional buildings meeting the established threshold in our guidelines used when determining closures due to illness, we are going to take a pause with all five buildings. The district will be closed tomorrow, February 12, with all five buildings returning to a regular schedule on Thursday, February 13.
What can you do to help?
1. Please send healthy students to school. Keeping healthy students at home will only negatively impact their academic and social needs. Please rest assured that if students exhibit symptoms of illness while at school, they are sent home by our school nursing staff.
2. If you are unsure about whether to send your child, please contact the nurse’s clinic on your child’s school campus. They are happy to help.
3. Keep children home from school until they are fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
4. Support your child in getting plenty of rest, eating healthy, practicing good respiratory etiquette (i.e. covering their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing), and washing their hands or sanitizing when soap and water are unavailable.
These decisions are not made lightly, and we recognize that closing school can be a hindrance for our families. We appreciate your support! Again, all five of our school buildings will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12. All five buildings will reopen, on Thursday, February 13. Have a good evening!

We have been monitoring student absences since last week. Four of our buildings have seen improved attendance today without having crossed the established threshold for absences, while one building has not. We try to stay consistent when making decisions about canceling school for illness by using established guidelines because we recognize that school closure can be a hindrance for our families. Due to the number of students absent in addition to the students who went home ill today, Greenfield Middle School will be closed Tuesday, February 11 and Wednesday, February 12. Students and staff will return on Thursday, February 13. No middle school practices or events will be held during these two days. To ensure that our other buildings remain in good standing with attendance, please help us by keeping students who are ill at home for an appropriate amount of time to recover. We value good attendance, but not at the cost of causing illness to spread to others. We appreciate your support. Again, Greenfield Middle School ONLY will be closed February 11 and February 12. Have a good evening!
