Mrs. Shrout’s students shared their area legends and scary stories around “the campfire” today for language arts. We set the mood with campfires and lighting and listened to awesome storytellers.

Due to the threat of inclement weather tomorrow, we are moving downtown for lunch to next week for the middle school students who purchased it with their PAWS bucks. We will inform parents of the new day once it is scheduled. As a reminder, all parents are sent the daily announcements through email as well. Have a great evening. Go Tigers!
Congratulations to our middle school students who earned honor roll or perfect attendance for the first quarter! Go Tigers!

Students in Miss.Bolender's class worked to complete a crucial part of their recent writing project in class on Friday. Students are writing persuasive pieces and creating a presentation to present to the class convincing a candy company to buy and sell a candy that they have created. In class on Friday, students took sketch renderings of their candy and converted them using AI into real product images to include in their final presentations to their classes next week. The results were UNREAL and we are so proud of their efforts!

Next week is Red Ribbon Week! Please participate in the theme days! As a reminder, there is no school on Friday!

Sixth grade math students with no missing assignment and a passing grade got to celebrate the end of the nine weeks with cotton candy! 🐯

Students in Ms. Lagorio's class went on a field trip to the Appalachian Forest Museum, located in Bainbridge. Students were able to explore a cave and hike to the Three Sisters, a unique rock formation at the end of the Etawah Woods Trail and part of the Rocky Fork Gorge, an impressive steep-walled dolomite canyon. Students were also provided a short lecture by a volunteer of the forest museum about the three types of rock (igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary) with a hands-on focus of the rocks they would see that day on their hike.

The October edition of the GMS Paws*itive Press is here!

Congratulations to all of our middle school students who participated in Middle School Band Night! Everyone did amazing!

The annual GMS Halloween dance is almost here. This dance is for GMS students only!

What a perfect fall day in Mrs. Stockdale and Ms. Reed's sixth grade ELA classes. Students worked on creating strong paragraphs using the Say (citing text evidence), Mean (What does that evidence mean?), Matter (Why is that evidence important?) strategy. Students have been learning how to identity evidence in passages we read, in addition to citing text evidence and being able to explain what that evidence means, and why it’s important. The ambience was just an added perk to our writing workshop.

Miss Smith’s seventh graders were introduced to the world of Prisms VR today. Students practiced with proportions hands on in a mini lesson. They will have additional opportunities throughout the year to practice with VR when completing lesson menus.

Students in Miss.Bolender’s classes spent the day analyzing, comparing, and contrasting a poem from the 1800s to a modern day song. After group collaboration to find similarities and differences, connections, and shared ideas between the two works, students had to think critically and creatively to create a visual representation to show a connection over a shared theme. With their LEGO creation, students then had to write a short response about their connection to show their knowledge of the shared theme.

Mrs. Dyer’s seventh graders were introduced to the world of Prisms VR today. Students practiced proportions hands on in a mini lesson. They will have additional opportunities throughout the year to practice with VR when completing lesson menus.

Greenfield Middle School’s Student Council representatives spent the day at Kings Island! The morning began with a unique learning opportunity where students participated in activities, games, and connected with peers from across the state of Ohio. The afternoon brought plenty of laughs, thrills, and unforgettable moments on the roller coasters. It was truly a day of leadership, friendship, and fun!

In Mrs. Black’s eighth grade ELA classes, students compared Paul Laurence Dunbar’s poem, "Sympathy," with Andra Day’s song, "Rise Up." They explored how both works highlight themes of struggle, resilience, and hope while expressing a longing for freedom and strength. After discussing the connections, students chose a creative way to show their understanding. Some used wiki sticks, modeling clay, or legos to build symbolic representations, while others wrote their own poems, created drawings, or crafted written explanations. This lesson allowed students to connect a classic poem with a modern song while expressing their ideas through different formats. Overall, it gave them the chance to see how themes of perseverance continue to resonate across time and genres.

Come out and enjoy a fun-filled evening all while cheering on the Tigers!
