Update: Because of student availability due to other commitments, the high school and middle school band members will not be marching during the September 28 varsity football game. Information from the September 27, 2024 all-call: Good afternoon. This is Quincey Gray, Superintendent of Greenfield Schools. First, thank you to our parents and guardians for their cooperation during dismissal today. Also, our bus drivers deserve a huge shoutout for ensuring the students’ safety during this treacherous weather. We do currently have some elementary buses still transporting students. This evening’s varsity football game has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 28, at 12:00 p.m. All of the additional activities (youth cheer, youth football, middle school band students marching with the high school band) that were scheduled for this evening will occur during the game tomorrow. A reminder from Cheer Coach, Vanessa Penwell: Those participating in youth cheer can arrive at 11:15 tomorrow morning. Please go to the Greenfield Elementary multipurpose room/gym, entering from the door on the football field/track side. Have a good evening! Stay safe!

Information from the September 19, 2024 All-Call: Good afternoon. Yesterday, a letter was sent to all parents and guardians via FinalForms sharing about an ongoing situation involving a hoax threat. I want to share that information in this phone call in case anyone did not receive the email. It is very important to make sure that your email address is up-to-date in FinalForms so that you can receive information. The letter reads as follows: Earlier in the week I notified you that our school district has not received any official threats, which is currently still the case. Unfortunately, a screenshot from Snapchat has been shared countless times over the last couple of days across our area, and it is causing our students and family members to be concerned. Please know that the “Snap” that is being shared did not originate in our school district. Not only that, but it does not mention our district and includes information that is NOT specific to our school district. If you are unfamiliar with how Snapchat works, I would encourage you to learn about it, especially if it is something that you are allowing your child to use. Just like other social media tools, users can share information quickly with many people without being sure of the validity of the information. Again though, with recent tragic events these hoax threats can put people on edge, which is certainly understandable. If your child sees something on social media that is threatening or makes them feel uneasy, they should share that information with a parent/guardian, a school personnel member, or law enforcement. Continuing to share a hoax threat on social media is only heightening panic, especially among our students. Our middle school and high school administrators have been working diligently over the past few days to talk to students about the situation, assuring them that in the case of a threat, we will take all necessary steps to ensure that our students and staff members are safe. As I mentioned previously, this is a good time to talk with your child about: 1. Be sure to report anything that seems odd or threatening. 2. DO NOT create or become involved in a hoax threat as it is a very serious crime. Our goal is to keep everyone safe, and communication is essential. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact us. A few other things: 1. Tomorrow, September 20, is the end of the interim period for the first nine weeks. 2. On Monday, September 23, we will be hosting a district report card informational session for anyone in the community. The session will be held in the McClain High School cafetorium beginning at 6:00 p.m. Check out our app, website, or social media accounts for additional details. 3. Thank you to everyone who participated in or watched the Snake Dance yesterday! It was a great evening of Tiger pride. 4. The Homecoming game is tomorrow night with festivities beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m. We hope to have a great crowd come out to support our students and those alumni who are participating in the halftime show. Have a good evening!

The annual Snake Dance is still ON for Wednesday, September 18! Due to the open burn ban, things will just look a little different this year. Those involved with set-up will meet on Fifth Street by the colonnades at 6:00 p.m. Then the Snake Dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. The "snake" will follow the arrows on the map, and then at the conclusion, everyone will meet back at the collonades and proceed into the GMS courtyard area where we will cheer for a Tiger victory! We would love for you to come out and support the event. Go Tigers! 💜💛 #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers

Please be aware that our district HAS NOT received a threat via social media. We are in session today. Because of the recent tragedy in our country and unfortunately the follow-up of hoax threats, it is a good time to talk with your child about: 1. Be sure to always report anything that seems odd or threatening. 2. DO NOT create or become involved in a hoax threat as it is a very serious crime. It is not worth being convicted of a crime to get a day out of school. Our goal is to keep our students, staff, families, and community safe. We can do that together! 💜💛 #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers

Information from the August 30, 2024 all-call: Our transportation department is working hard to ensure that students are transported to and from school, as well as, to and from extracurricular events. Because they are understaffed currently, it is important that transportation changes for your child are communicated a minimum of 24 hours in advance unless it is an emergency situation. We appreciate your flexibility and support! We’d like to thank everyone who has helped to make the morning drop-off at Greenfield Elementary a success. Things have been going very well. If you are parking and then walking your child up to the school, please ensure that you are doing so as quickly as possible so that the parking space can then be open for someone else who needs it. As a reminder, please be sure not to park between or travel through the barricades in front of the Imagination Kingdom. Thank you again for helping us get off to a great start! September is Attendance Awareness Month and is recognized across the country. Ohio, like the rest of the United States, has an attendance crisis. Part of today’s high levels of chronic absenteeism reflect the trauma and upset experienced by students and families due to significant economic and health challenges. Students who may not have experienced barriers to attendance in the past are now struggling to attend school consistently as a result of the pandemic. As a district, we recognize that many times, there are legitimate reasons why students are absent. Our efforts to improve attendance should NOT be viewed as us encouraging children who are ill to attend school. Our goal is to support families who need assistance with ensuring that their child is not chronically absent from school. Be on the lookout for information during the month of September, and please let us know if we can help your family. Be sure to check out our app or website if you are looking for athletic event schedules. Any changes are updated regularly. Event details, scores, and pictures can be found on our McClain Athletic Department Facebook page. We hope to see large crowds at our fall events to support our student-athletes. If you are coming to the varsity football game this evening, remember that the start time has been moved to 8:00 p.m. Today is the last day of school before our fair break. School will resume for students on Monday, September 9. Have a wonderful weekend!
