Some of our eighth grade girls got a lift in today during gym class!

Students in Agriculture class learned the nine agriculture career sectors. Students used the Agexplorer website to research a job. Once they found a job that interested them, they were to place their job in the correct Ag Sector. Students then went around to find another job from classmates' posted jobs that interested them and then ecplained why they chose that job.

Mrs. Penwell’s 7th graders have been working hard to set up their writer’s notebook for the year. Students have been adding various quick writes daily to help foster the love of writing. They were excited to start their first creative narrative writing project working on a "Back to School" roll-a-story. We can’t wait to share them in class.

Students in Mrs. Santor and Mrs. Weaks’ 6th grade writing class experienced their first quick write activity. They learned any subject they feel confident that they could talk to someone about can also be turned into writing.

Check out the information for the upcoming youth cheer camp! This opportunity is available for students in grades 1-6 and is being provided by our McClain High School cheerleaders and coaches.

Students in Mrs. Johnson's class worked on setting goals for reading today!

Students in Mrs.Mongold's math classes decided what effective group work should look like during today's activity.

Thank you to Mrs. Jaci Raike for creating a video in remembrance of Musician First Class Joseph Hoffman. This video was shared with our social studies teachers. The video can be seen by clicking the following link: https://youtu.be/sXh84T_Q8uI

Students learned all about what agriculture is today in class. Students were tasked to list words in their groups that describe what they thought agriculture was. Then, they rotated around the room with their group and added new words to the previous group's list. At the end, they discussed the words and we talked about them as a class. We then watched a short video about what agriculture is and what the 4 F's of agriculture are: food, fiber, fuel, and forestry. Students then worked independently to write their definition of agriculture and 15 ways they use agriculture everyday. Students learned everything in life revolves around agriculture and that it is very important.

Season passes will be on sale starting Aug 23, 2022 in the New Gym Lobby at 4:00. Other times will be posted at a later date.

What a wonderful way to support one of our students and have fun! Check out the flyer for details!

Day 2 brought on the four four's challenge in Mrs. Dyer's math classes. Only two groups were able to successfully solve for the numbers 1-20 using only four four's and different operations. Way to go!

The link for placing money on a student's lunch account has changed. It is
http://family.titank12.com/. The link can be found on our website and app in the Dining section.
Please remember that the universal free lunch program has ended. If you think that your child would qualify for free or reduced price lunches, or even if you are unsure, be sure to complete the application as soon as possible.

Students in Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Raike's math class worked together to develop norms for group work throughout the year.

Mrs. Dyer's math classes jumped into this year with both feet! They were already up at the boards tackling thinking tasks in small groups. Todays task was to find the largest product using numbers that totaled to 25. The 3/7 block won with a value over 11,000!

Students played Get to Know You Jenga today on the first day of Ag class. Students also wrote down their thoughts to Mrs. Schelling on what type of teacher they want to have for class! Responses showed: fun, caring, nice, understanding, helpful, and does lots of activities.

Be on the lookout for free and reduced lunch applications to be sent home. Universal free lunch is NOT in place this school year. Even if you haven’t qualified for free or reduced lunch before, it is worth taking the time to complete the form. There can be benefits in addition to free meals for our district and for families! If you need assistance completing the application, we are happy to help! 😊

We are excited to introduce our new GEVSD app! See the steps for adding the app to your device and keep up to date on everything happening in the district. We are in the process of syncing our district events calendar and a couple of tools, so please be patient as we continue to add new components and finalize the development process.
