Practice field project days #225-246 - Be sure to follow the updates on our social media accounts, website, and app!
If you have been by the site over the past week or so, you may have noticed movement of steel and welding work being completed. Following the warranty inspection, Surgent Construction and our engineer of record established a plan for completing the adjustments to anchor bolt placement that needed to be made in order to meet Surgent's guidelines to warranty the building. In a past post, it was shared that Surgent has different steel erection tolerances than the subcontractor that was originally on the job.
What is in today's pictures?
➡️ In the areas where the placement of anchor bolts need to be adjusted, the steel plates (created by Surgent) can be placed over the existing bolts while allowing the opportunity to place the bolts required for the steel tolerances needed.
➡️ The construction fence has been adjusted to surround the current construction area only excluding the entry way off of Seventh Street where bollards with a removable cable will be placed.
➡️ Welding, described above, continued on the site today.
➡️ Today, our contractor hosted a meeting in which all of the subcontractors coordinated on the work to be completed and established a timeline for completion. It was a very interesting process in which subcontractors placed sticky notes on a weekly schedule detailing the number of crew members that will be on the job, what they need to have completed to perform their tasks, and then what their tasks would be. It was an exciting day. 😀
Finally, as shared previously, what may not look like a lot of work happening HAS BEEN a lot of work going on behind the scenes. Construction takes patience as delays and issues are inevitable. We are happy to share that steel is scheduled to start going up next week and will continue through completion. 🎉
We welcome questions and will continue to keep you updated. 😊

Practice field project days #210-225 - Be sure to follow the updates on our social media accounts, website, and app!
A reminder from our last post:
➡️ GOOD NEWS - Elford Inc. was able to secure a new subcontractor quickly, and they were able to mobilize onsite last week. We are excited that Surgent Construction has joined the team.
➡️ What happens now? A third party inspection has to be completed in order for Surgent to warranty the steel work. This is a typical process and is a requirement for the warranty. Over the next couple of weeks, you'll see a lot of people and equipment onsite. If you live in the area, you may have even seen a group of team members working in the snow last Friday taking hundreds of pictures. Part of the inspection requires them to inspect every piece of steel, bolt, etc., which means that you will see steel coming down just to be put back up. Again, the inspection process is only expected to take a couple of weeks. Then, Surgent will move forward with placing the rest of the steel for the building.
New update:
➡️ The black fencing around the area is being placed, and once the handrail is in place on the retaining wall, the construction fence will be removed from the field area and left up only around the building site.
➡️ The inspection process has been completed. Much work has occurred over the last few weeks, but sadly when people don't physically see it, assumptions are made that nothing is happening. Our district appreciates the hard work of everyone involved as they have worked diligently to resolve a tough situation. 😊
➡️ Finally, steel that had been placed and was being held by a temporary brace before additional steel was added was removed along with the brace yesterday afternoon due to the weather that was expected Friday evening. This action was taken as a safety measure.
➡️ As always stated in our posts and various communications, we welcome questions. We PREFER that people ask questions so that assumptions don't turn into rumors. Rumors don't benefit anyone.
We welcome questions and will continue to keep you updated. 😊 #legacyofleadership
