The building is now being delivered TOMORROW AND THE FOLLOWING DAY!
What do we mean by the building is being "delivered"? 🤔
The steel framed building was designed by our architect based on the input provided by multiple team members over planning sessions that occurred during many months. Members of our athletic department, maintenance department, transportation department, central office, and the GEVSD Board contributed ideas to meet the needs of all who will be utilizing the multipurpose building for many years to come. The building consists of three sections, which the construction crew refers to as "building one", "building two", and "building three". The section titled "building one" is the side closest to Seventh Street. Once the complete building is erected, there will be a brick facade along the outside portion matching the "McClain brick" found on the main campus.
⚠️ A tentative schedule with important information is below:
➡️ Building delivery will take 2 days with five semi trucks coming each day.
➡️ The building segments will be placed in the fenced construction area where eventually the parking lot behind the building will be located.
➡️ For the safety of residents, the one-block section of Eighth Street along the practice field area will be closed to the public for approximately two months due to heavy traffic disruptions stemming from construction deliveries and the building erection. Again, this only applies to the one-block section along the practice field area. The closure will take effect on Friday, September 29.
➡️ The slab for "building three" will be poured sometime next week. This is a task that has to begin early in the morning as the process has to be completed in one day. On the day of the pour, equipment will move in around 5:00 a.m., and work will begin around 6:00 a.m. As mentioned in the previous post, there will be a few times during the project when work will have to be completed outside of the normal work hours simply because of the nature of the task. Our contractor has strived to keep those situations to a minimum and will continue to do so as much as possible.
➡️ The actual erection of the building is scheduled to start the week of October 9. Also, during that week, we are tentatively planning for the fields and parking spaces to be turned over to the district. Please note that this is TENTATIVE as there are many factors that play into that process.

The McClain High School students and staff along with community members of the Village of Greenfield pulled together today to collect 31 units of blood! This effort will positively impact 93 lives! Today was the first of five blood drives planned and executed by Cadet Abbigail Couch with assistance from other cadets and the support of the MHS teaching staff. 💜💛

Paving has occurred! 👏🏼👏🏼 Next steps include striping and establishment of the parking lot "islands". Underground plumbing work is in action and electrical work will follow.
We are just ONE WEEK AWAY from building delivery! 🎉 The building is now arriving during a two-day time span. Be on the lookout for the building delivery on September 28 and 29! 👀

The Snake Dance will begin and end Wednesday, September 20, at the field on S. Washington Street where the band and football teams have been practicing this year. The parade route is Washington, to Jefferson, to 6th, to South, and back to the field. Start time is 7:00 p.m.
