Good afternoon. With two additional buildings meeting the established threshold in our guidelines used when determining closures due to illness, we are going to take a pause with all five buildings. The district will be closed tomorrow, February 12, with all five buildings returning to a regular schedule on Thursday, February 13. What can you do to help? 1. Please send healthy students to school. Keeping healthy students at home will only negatively impact their academic and social needs. Please rest assured that if students exhibit symptoms of illness while at school, they are sent home by our school nursing staff. 2. If you are unsure about whether to send your child, please contact the nurse’s clinic on your child’s school campus. They are happy to help. 3. Keep children home from school until they are fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication. 4. Support your child in getting plenty of rest, eating healthy, practicing good respiratory etiquette (i.e. covering their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing), and washing their hands or sanitizing when soap and water are unavailable. These decisions are not made lightly, and we recognize that closing school can be a hindrance for our families. We appreciate your support! Again, all five of our school buildings will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12. All five buildings will reopen, on Thursday, February 13. Have a good evening! #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers

We have been monitoring student absences since last week. Four of our buildings have seen improved attendance today without having crossed the established threshold for absences, while one building has not. We try to stay consistent when making decisions about canceling school for illness by using established guidelines because we recognize that school closure can be a hindrance for our families. Due to the number of students absent in addition to the students who went home ill today, Greenfield Middle School will be closed Tuesday, February 11 and Wednesday, February 12. Students and staff will return on Thursday, February 13. No middle school practices or events will be held during these two days. To ensure that our other buildings remain in good standing with attendance, please help us by keeping students who are ill at home for an appropriate amount of time to recover. We value good attendance, but not at the cost of causing illness to spread to others. We appreciate your support. Again, Greenfield Middle School ONLY will be closed February 11 and February 12. Have a good evening! #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers

Snow
After careful consideration of the cold temperatures forecasted for tomorrow, our district will be closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025. One of the primary factors considered is the number of students, along with their parents and guardians, who walk to school. Other districts in our area may not have any, or very few, students who have to walk to school. Each district must consider many factors when making decisions regarding delays and closings. A decision regarding the schedule for Wednesday, January 22, will be communicated tomorrow afternoon. How do snow days work? Technically, our expectation for attendance from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is not based on days. Instead, it is based on hours. Districts can still choose to implement policies in which, for example, students make up days missed after having a specified number of calamity days. The length of our district’s school day allows for a “buffer”, keeping us from having to make up days missed for a specified period of time. The number of hours required for students varies based on their grade level band. The hours we are not in session are monitored, and should we get to the point where we will be making up hours missed, we will communicate that information in advance. Have a good evening! #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers

Snow day
Due to the wind that is expected overnight and in the early morning, which is already causing deteriorating road conditions, the Greenfield Exempted Village School District will be on a two-hour delay Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Please remember that breakfast will not be served. Also, for those parents of children in grades 1-6 who are participating in the youth cheer clinic, forms were sent home with students yesterday. The completed form and payment can be returned to your child’s school office by tomorrow, or you can attend the in-person sign-up scheduled for tomorrow from 5:00 until 6:00 at Greenfield Elementary. Entrance will be at the front doors of the building. Have a good evening! #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers

The Greenfield Exempted Village School District will be closed on Friday, January 10, 2025. We would need a delay at the least due to the condition of roads and bus turn-around areas. With the snow forecasted to begin in the early afternoon, we do not want to risk the safety of our students, families, and staff. We look forward to seeing our students and staff on Monday! #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers

We would like to invite you to be part of something special. 🎶💜💛🎶 Our district is excited to kick off an auditorium revitalization project. Constructed in 1915, the McClain High School auditorium has been a treasure in our community for over one hundred years, hosting countless performances and events leading to memories that last a lifetime. While its history is rich, time has taken its toll after the renovations made almost 40 years ago. We now have a unique opportunity to restore and enhance this iconic space for future generations. Our revitalization project will focus on upgrading the sound and lighting systems and replacing the seating, carpet, and curtains. These updates will honor the building’s historic charm while ensuring that it continues to meet the needs and support the experiences of current and future performers. We are thrilled for you to join us in bringing this vision of revitalization to life! Your support can make a meaningful impact. If you have questions regarding the information in this post, please contact us. 😊 https://www.greenfield.k12.oh.us/page/mhs-auditorium-revitalization #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers

Update
Information from the October 30, 2024 all-call: There will be no school for students on Friday, November 1, 2024 as it is a professional development day for teachers. Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 6 and Thursday, November 7. You should have received information about how to schedule a conference, but if you have questions, please contact the school office in the building where your child attends. We would love to see all parents and guardians for a conference. The Greenfield Middle School McClain FFA Chapter will be holding a Trunk-or-Treat event tomorrow evening, October 31, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Please do not park in the lot next to the Imagination Kingdom, the lot on the greenhouse side of the vocational building, or the lot on the Lafayette Street side of the vocational building after 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. The event is open to the community and will be held rain or shine. If the event is moved indoors, it will be held in our cafetorium. Registration to participate in this event as a treat provider has closed, so we will not be adding anyone additional at this time. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact us during regular school hours. Have a good evening!
